LOVE SYNDROME

        LOVE SYNDROME  The cause of this syndrome is still unknown. Age of Onset : Teenage. Recent studies have shown that it may affect people upto 25 years of age. Risk Factors : The age itself is the major risk factor. Others include (a) Co-education (b) Cell Phones (c) Movies (d) Internet Of these the part played by the cell phones is note worthy. Pathology Multi Organ System Failure Clinical Features 1. A) The most common presenting feature is throbbing pain in the heart often described by the patient as sweet pain. 2. B) Loss of appetite. 3. C) Sleeplessness. 4. D) Day dreaming 5. E) Disinterest in any type of work. There is a danger of patient being transformed into a poet. Signs 1. A) Very much dilated pupil (In search of his sweet heart). 2. B) Blushing of cheeks (mainly seen in girls). 3. C) On Auscultation: The First Heart Sound is heard as LOVE instead of LUB. 4. WHAT IS ECTOPIA CORDIS? Ectopia cordis is a Latin word, which literally means “outside” and “heart”. It is a rather rare congenital malformation that concerns the heart’s abnormal location. Normally, the heart is located in the center of the chest cavity where it resides in the space between the lungs (inferior mediastinum) and lies on the diaphragm with its more pointed apex directed to the left side. where the heart is located partially or entirely outside of the chest wall. It is estimated to affect one in every 126,000 births, with girls slightly more likely to suffer it. The condition is caused by a failure of the embryo to develop properly. Due to how rare the condition is there are limited treatment options. Successful surgeries have been performed, but the mortality rate remains high.
